Honoring Brain Injury Awareness Month
As we wrap up the month of March, we want to take a moment to reflect on the powerful experiences, milestones, and celebrations that have made this month so meaningful. March is recognized nationally as Brain Injury Awareness Month; and at Adeo, this observance resonates deeply with our mission to support adults living with the long-term impacts of brain injury.
Throughout the month, we’ve been reminded of the importance of community, education, and advocacy—both for those directly impacted by brain injuries and for the wider networks of care that support them. Most importantly, we’ve seen how small acts of connection can uplift others and spread JOY, even in the face of great challenges.
Breakfast & Presentation
On March 26th, we hosted our Brain Injury Awareness Breakfast and Presentation, bringing together community members, professionals, and advocates for a morning of connection and learning. The event provided a space for meaningful conversations around brain injury—its challenges, its impact, and, importantly, the hope and healing that can come through consistent support and community involvement. We are so grateful to everyone who attended and shared in the spirit of awareness and empowerment.
Celebrating
Mark’s Retirement
A bittersweet occasion was marked with the celebration of Mark’s retirement. After years of devoted service to our organization and the residents we support, Mark will be stepping into a well-earned retirement.
To honor his last day with Adeo, our residents hosted a pizza party in his honor. With clear skies and the warmth of spring sunshine, we gathered outside to share laughter, stories, and heartfelt thanks for the many ways Mark has made a difference. His compassion, kindness, and steady presence have left a lasting impact, and he will be truly missed by all of us.
Greeley Proclaims March as Brain Injury Awareness Month
Members of our leadership team attended the Greeley City Council meeting, where we were honored to witness the mayor formally proclaim March 2025 as Brain Injury Awareness Month in the City of Greeley.
This proclamation is a meaningful acknowledgment of the often invisible yet life-altering impact of brain injuries. It also highlights the importance of community organizations like Adeo, which work every day to ensure individuals affected by brain injuries are not only supported—but also celebrated and connected.
Key points from the City of Greeley’s proclamation include:
More than 5,000 Coloradans sustain an acquired brain injury each year.
Traumatic brain injuries (TBIs) can result from falls, motor vehicle crashes, assaults, sports injuries, workplace incidents, or opioid overdoses.
Colorado ranks ninth in the nation for deaths resulting from traumatic brain injury.
A brain injury can happen in an instant, but can bring lifelong physical, cognitive, and behavioral challenges.
Early intervention, adequate resources, and a supportive community can greatly enhance quality of life and help individuals live healthy, joyful, and connected lives.
We are deeply grateful to Mayor John Gates and the Greeley City Council for shining a light on this critical issue, and for recognizing the importance of creating inclusive, supportive spaces for everyone affected by brain injury.
