Navigating Winter with Brain Injury Support
As winter settles in and daylight grows shorter, many of us feel the shift—slower mornings, changes in mood, or a dip in motivation. For individuals living with brain injuries, these seasonal transitions can feel even more impactful. The colder months can disrupt routines, amplify fatigue, and introduce challenges in maintaining focus and emotional balance.
Even small steps can help nurture stability, wellness, and JOY throughout the winter season. A few practices we encourage include:
Embracing natural light: Spending even a few minutes outdoors can brighten mood, support sleep cycles, and offer a gentle reset during the day.
Keeping connections strong: Whether it’s a phone call, a group activity, or spending time with our community, socialization plays an essential role in maintaining emotional health.
Honoring your own pace: Winter naturally invites us to slow down. Listening closely to your body and adjusting expectations can bring calm, confidence, and greater ease.
Supporting brain injury wellness is at the heart of what we do. Visit adeoco.org to learn more.
Community Life at Adeo: Thanksgiving Preparations
There’s something special about this time of year at Adeo, a familiar sense of warmth, anticipation, and togetherness. As we prepare for our annual Residents & Family Thanksgiving Meal, the community kitchen has come alive with one of our favorite traditions: baking hand pies.
Residents and staff have been busy rolling dough, mixing fillings, and sharing stories as sweet aromas fill the halls. Two of our residents, both former cooks in high-end Idaho restaurants, reminisced about their culinary experiences while we baked together. These moments represent so much more than holiday cooking; they create opportunities for creativity, teamwork, and connection. Every pie carries with it the joy of contributing, the pride of learning new skills, and the comfort of doing something meaningful side by side.
Traditions like this are at the heart of community life at Adeo. They remind us how powerful shared experiences can be in building confidence, strengthening relationships, and celebrating the season together.
How Your Support
Changes Lives
The heart of the mission is to empower adults living with traumatic brain injuries to build confidence, strengthen independence, and experience true joy in daily life.
This commitment is reflected in every supportive home, every personalized program, and every meaningful connection created throughout the community.
Donations make this work possible in very real, tangible ways. Contributions help provide accessible housing, individualized care, enriching activities, and wellness programs designed to meet each person’s unique needs and goals. Every gift becomes part of a larger effort to foster dignity, growth, and belonging.
Supporters play a vital role in creating opportunities for residents to thrive. If you feel inspired to contribute, your generosity will directly uplift the lives of adults working toward greater independence and fulfillment.
